Christmas is a season of joy, celebration, and reflection. It’s a time when families come together, share stories, and create memories that last a lifetime. However, it’s essential to approach God’s Word with an open heart. We may encounter passages that challenge our beliefs or make us uncomfortable. In those moments, rather than resisting, we should be willing to change our perspective. Remember, our understanding is limited, but God’s wisdom is infinite.

What Not to Do When Following God

While seeking God’s leadership, there are specific pitfalls to avoid. Firstly, we cannot follow the world and expect to walk in His ways. As Romans 12:2 reminds us, “Do not conform to the patterns of this world.” The world presents numerous distractions, leading us away from God’s truth.

Secondly, we must be cautious of the company we keep. Surrounding ourselves with ungodly friends can divert us from our spiritual journey. We should strive to be a thermostat in our relationships, setting the tone rather than allowing others to influence us negatively. As Proverbs 13:20 states, “Keep company with wise friends.” Our relationships significantly impact our spiritual and emotional well-being.

Lastly, we must not allow our feelings to dictate our actions. Emotions can be fleeting and unreliable. Instead, we should anchor ourselves in God’s unchanging truth. Proverbs 14:12 warns us that “there is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death.” Trusting in God’s guidance, rather than our feelings, is essential for a fruitful walk with Him.

The Role of Relationships
